PROJECT INFORMATION

DESCRIPTION

The goal of the Transforming Transport project is to demonstrate, in a realistic and quantifiable way, the benefits that the use of Big Data can provide to the logistics, mobility and transport sectors in general. Specifically, the project will validate how the transformation of logistics processes through the use of Big Data, provides an increase in operational efficiency, improves customer experience and generates new business opportunities. This objective will be consolidated through 7 pilot projects, each of them in an area of special relevance to this industry:

(1) Intelligent highways

(2) Sustainable vehicle fleets

(3) Proactive rail infrastructures

(4) Seaports as intelligent logistics hubs

(5) Efficient air transportation

(6) Multimodal Urban Mobility

(7) Intelligent supply chains

ITI participates mainly in the project as leader of the pilot project on "Seaports as intelligent logistic hubs".

Impact

Improve port traffic management by generating optimized planning that takes into account the large volume of variables available.
Define a predictive maintenance system based on the information coming from the equipment involved in port transport operations, such as cranes or trucks.
Implement a scorecard to visualize the evolution of logistics indicators, as well as to detect the causes that penalize the efficiency of the terminal.

Success stories

ITI participates mainly in the project as leader of the pilot project on "Seaports as intelligent logistic hubs".
In collaboration with the Port of Valencia, through the Valencia Port Foundation, Noatum Terminal and Orbita Ingeniería, and together with Duisport, the largest European land port located in Duisburg (Germany), the aim is to demonstrate how the use of Big Data technologies can improve port operations.
Fundamentally, through the integration of Big Data from the different actors involved in the transport of maritime goods, allowing a more efficient operation.
