DESCRIPTION

The PROTECTOR project focuses on improving the LMD-CNC hybrid manufacturing process in order to process metals with enhanced oxidation protection. The aim is to design and install a system to protect the manufacturing area in order to minimize the oxidation of the manufactured parts during cooling, and with this improvement, to develop process parameters and characterize the result from a mechanical, chemical and microstructural point of view.

Impact

The companies will be able to evaluate the benefits of the process with the realization of real cases of interest for the companies. Expected impact: The main objectives of the project are:
- The definition, characterization and evaluation of the variables involved in the hybrid LMD-CNC manufacturing process in materials for industrial use.
- The development of a protection system in the hybrid LMD-CNC system to minimize oxidation during manufacturing when industrially used but oxidation-sensitive materials are used.
