DESCRIPTION

Real-time knowledge of the processes and physical variables in footwear manufacturing provides valuable information to the manufacturer, since it is possible to know which process or processes have been critical, and to make the most appropriate decisions. To this end, INESCOP is working on the development of real-time production control systems based on IoT techniques (Internet of Things) and Cloud Computing (cloud services) through the sensorization of manufacturing lasts. Thus, the data obtained from the manufacturing process will be sent, via RFID/WIFI technology, to a server that will process the data extracted in real time, providing information for interpretation: manufacturing conditions, product traceability and problem detection. In this way the manufacturer will know what conditions the product has been subjected to during manufacture and what process the product is in. This technology will help improve the manufacturing process and boost the business by improving product finish without performing invasive tasks in the manufacturing process.

Impact

With this analysis of footwear manufacturing, it will be possible to study the importance of the different phases of footwear creation and the influence of certain parameters that are currently not taken into account and may be important in the final quality of the footwear. This analysis will be one of the starting points for the path that the footwear sector must take to achieve an immersion in Industry 4.0 in the shortest possible time.
