PROJECT INFORMATION

DESCRIPTION

The National Integrated Energy and Climate Plan 2021-2030 (PNIEC) foresees 120 GW of renewable energy in Spain by 2030, of which 50 GW will be wind and 38 GW photovoltaic, with the goal of reaching 74% renewable energy by 2030 and 100% by 2050. To meet this level of renewable energy, several actions are planned, including new HVDC and HVAC connections between Spain and France. To develop control, protection and operation strategies for HVdc links, battery storage systems (BESS) and "grid forming" wind farms considering their specific technical characteristics and limitations. 2 Develop and evaluate grid-forming MMC and BESS converter control strategies in HVdc embedded systems to provide ancillary services in weak power systems with strong renewable penetration. 3 Develop and evaluate robust grid-forming control strategies for system start-up with a combination of wind farms, BESS, HVdc grids and/or STATCOMs.
