Development of Probiotics and Value-Added Products from Beer Brewing Residues
VALENCIAN INNOVATION AGENCY
The BioValora project will process brewing waste to obtain materials for the biotechnology sector (functional ingredients, nutrients, probiotics and prebiotics) and plant fibers for use as fillers or additives in the transformation of plastics. To this end, we will first proceed to the extraction and characterization of phenolic compounds, proteins and their hydrolysates and lignocellulosic residues and fibers. It will then move on to the selection and validation of compounds to obtain new functional ingredients. Finally, it will proceed to the development by injection molding of products with new fiber-additivated plastic materials, scaled up to industrial level.
