DESCRIPTION

In order to facilitate access to the Digital Twin technology by SMEs in the Valencian Community, the project proposes two complementary objectives:
- Generate a constructive model of digital twins. By using Transfer Learning techniques, the predictive models created in a process can be transferred to similar processes that use the same generic modules, simplifying the development and greatly shortening the time it takes to put the DG into operation.
- Develop an interface, based on Virtual Reality, for interaction with the digital twin. This interface will allow personnel to interact with the Digital Twin in two aspects: data visualization and simulation. The difference with the usual interfaces (the most advanced are 3D models) is the degree of immersion in the process, and the interaction is much more intuitive than with a flat scheme.

Impact

The results of the project are as follows:
- A constructive model for the development of digital twins of processes with common characteristics, so that a modular structure of digital twins is obtained, easily understandable and applicable to manufacturing processes or continuous processes.
- A methodology for applying the Transfer Learning technique to similar processes (of the same "class") that facilitates the development of digital process twins and shortens the training period of the associated algorithms.
- A virtual reality-based HMI interface to visualize and interact with the digital simulation twin.
