PROJECT INFORMATION

DESCRIPTION

The CUSTOM ON BODY project, developed in collaboration between IBV and AIDIMME, aims to advance methodologies and technologies for product development that, based on the 3D model of the human body, allow the design and manufacture of customized products adapted to the morphology of users, using flexible manufacturing technologies.

Impact

The project has addressed the challenges of manufacturing customized products in three phases of the production process: capturing user information (3D models of the body), design, and additive manufacturing. It has generated a comprehensive process that includes innovations in all three phases and has been tested with three customized demonstrators: an orthosis, an insole and a sole. In the first capture stage, the IBV has designed a low-cost method for capturing the consumer's full-body data that both lowers the costs of this phase of the process and simplifies it. In the design stage, both IBV and AIDIMME have generated a series of functional and ergonomic design criteria, as well as material optimization methods for the three demonstrators of the project. In the additive manufacturing phase AIDIMME has identified the optimal technologies for the demonstrators considering the functionality of the product and the cost-effectiveness of the process.
