DESCRIPTION

The technology used is semi-automatic screen printing and flexography combined with the application of conductive inks. Screen printing allows the transfer of an ink through a mesh stretched on a frame. This mesh has some blocked areas according to the design that prevents the ink from passing through. On the contrary, the ink will pass through the mesh through those free areas depositing the conductive ink on the fabric with the desired design. Flexography is very similar but allows the printing of roll to roll inks.

Screen printing and flexography is a mature technology that has been used for many years in the textile industry. However, the application of conductive inks is more novel and is where the main innovation lies.
